Not many people are aware that Vietnam is the second-largest coffee producer in the world! Although they are the second-largest producer it is all robusta and low-quality coffee. It is exciting to see that things are changing, not only for the industry but for farmers as well. Arabica often goes for a higher price tag than robusta and the added attention to detail during the harvest helps farmers earn more for their crop. This coffee comes from a group of farmers in Caudat Village in the Dalat region of Vietnam. The average size of a farm in Vietnam is very small, typically 1-3 hectares. Despite their size, these farms are as productive as the average coffee farm in Central America. This productivity can be seen with farmers picking only ripe coffee cherries and quickly delivering them to the mill. This ensures they are getting a higher premium paid for red cherry.
This coffee is a great choice for people who like coffee from South East Asia. If you enjoy Sumatra or Bali coffee this will be something you enjoy.
